Q&A With Utah Football’s Daniel Bray

Freshman and three-star running back joined Utah this Spring
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah running backs room has welcomed some new faces this Spring, both through the transfer portal and high school ranks.
One of the newest members of the position group is freshman Daniel Bray, who came to the Utes from Fort Worth, Texas, and North Crowley HS. He helped that program to an undefeated 2024 season capped off by a Class 6A Division I championship. As a senior with the Panthers, Bray rushed for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns.
UtahUtes.com visited with Bray to check in on how Spring practice is going as well as settling into life in Utah.
Why Utah?
"I like the fan base and the coaches. Everyone here is like a family. I wanted to be part of a family."
Had you ever seen snow before coming to Utah?
"A little bit in Texas—but nothing like this!"
Describe your style of play and strengths for fans who haven't seen you play before.
"Shifty, fast and fun to watch."
How's it been working with the talent in running backs room?
"We have a great running backs room. Everyone has their own unique strengths, so we can use each one of us for a variety of things. Whatever it comes down to, we can all do what we need to do."
What have you enjoyed about being with Coach Atuaia?
"He is a great coach, and not only a great coach but a great father and great mentor. He also played running back, so that gives us a little bit of an advantage."
What kind of relationship have you developed with the offensive line with them opening holes up for you?
"One thing they tell me is that I'm fast. They tell me to slow down. When I slow down, holes are always open. I always trust those guys."
