Award given to nation’s most outstanding running back
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah sophomore running back Wayshawn Parker has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watchlist, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Tuesday.

Named after SMU's three-time All-American running back, The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the most outstanding running back in college football and will be awarded for the 36th time in 2025.

Parker spent 2024 at Washington State, playing in all 12 games with seven starts. He was named the Pac-12's Freshman "Top Performer" after rushing 137 times for 735 yards and four touchdowns.

The Richmond, Calif., native averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 61.3 yards per game, while he also caught 11 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. His first collegiate 100-yard game included a season-long 75-yard rush for a touchdown vs. Utah State.

The PwC SMU Athletic Forum will name ten semifinalists in November and three finalists, as voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, will also be announced in November. The recipient of the 2025 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12.
