Utes Sweep Double Header against Utah State and Montana

SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah women's tennis team picked up back-to-back wins Friday in its double header against the Utah State Aggies and the Montana Grizzlies. The Utes beat Utah State 7-0 and downed Montana 6-1.
VS UTAH STATE
DOUBLES
The Utes started off the match strong with Emma Kamper and Emma Valletta taking a 6-4 win over Olivia Halvorsen and Sabina Pintea at the No. 1 spot. Kamea Medora and Emmie Moore fought hard in the No. 2 spot but fell 6-4 to Natalie Paterova and Terezia Mlkva. Hayley Roberts and Dylan Lolofie pushed the third doubles match to a tiebreak and took the set 7-6 (5) to secure the victory before heading into singles action.
SINGLES
In singles action, Kaila Barksdale picked up the first singles point for the Utes with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Chahd Tourkhani in the No. 3 spot.
Valletta faced Halvorsen in the No. 4 spot, where she went on to win the match 6-2, 6-2. Kamper faced Mlkva in the No. 1 spot, where she went on to win the match 6-2, 6-3. Moore powered on to pick up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Paterova at the No. 2 spot clinching the overall match victory for the Utes.
The rest of the matches played out with Roberts picking up a 7-5, 2-6,10-8 win over Ramos at the No. 5 spot.
Lolofie was the last to finish for Utah where she went on to battle Nadine Abid in a tiebreak. Lolofie won her first set 7-5 but fell in the second, 6-7 (4). She then went on to claim the tiebreak 10-4 at the No. 5 spot.
VS MONTANA
DOUBLES
The Utes started off the match strong with Emma Kamper and Emma Valletta taking a 6-1 win over Kelsey Philips and Meghna Anand at the No. 1 spot. Hayley Roberts and Dylan Lolofie picked up a win in the No. 3 spot, 6-1 to claim the doubles point. Kamea Medora and Emmie Moore left the match unfinished in the No. 2 spot tied at 4-4.
SINGLES
In singles action, Emmie Moore picked up the first singles point for the Utes with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Anand in the No. 2 spot.
Kamper faced Philips in the No. 1 spot, where she went on to win the match 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 3 spot Kaila Barksdale took on Monika Fizova, where she went on to win the match 6-4, 6-1. Lolofie powered through to pick up a 6-4, 7-5 win over Paige Bott at the No. 5 court. Andjelija Markovic took on Kaylin Kielty in the No. 6 spot and fell 5-7, 6-0, 8-10.
Hayley Roberts finished out the singles matches with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Kamila Slovakova at the No. 4 spot.
The Utes are now 3-1 on the season.
UP NEXT
The Utes will head on the road to play Hawaii on Friday, Feb 6. Utah will then travel back to Salt Lake City, for a double header against Washington State and Denver on Feb. 14.
