General
- Utah has started 5-0 for the first time since 2015.
- Morgan Scalley is the first Utah head coach since Jim Fassel in 1985 to start his first full season 5-0 and is the first head coach in Utah history to start 6-0 overall (including the 2025 Las Vegas Bowl).
- Utah has won all five of its games by 14-plus points. The 2026 Utes are the fourth Utah team to not only start 5-0 but win their first five games by 14-plus points (1953, '94, 2004).
- Utah is now 4-2 all-time vs. Kansas and has won four straight games against the Jayhawks.
- Tonight's game was Utah's 11th straight win dating back to last season. It is the longest active streak in the Big 12 and third-longest in FBS behind Indiana (22) and Notre Dame (16).
- The Utes are 129-42 when playing at Rice-Eccles Stadium and have won 37 of their last 43 home games.
- Tonight's game was the 99th straight sellout of Rice-Eccles Stadium. It includes every game with fans in the building dating back to the 2010 season opener (excluding three games during the pandemic-altered 2020 season, when fans did not attend).
- The game had originally been scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. MT kickoff. But forecasts showed inclement weather scheduled to pass through Salt Lake City late Saturday night. Thanks to collaboration from both universities, the Big 12 and ESPN, kickoff was moved up to 6 p.m. in an attempt to complete the game in its entirety before weather came through.
- Kansas won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Utah defended the North goal to begin the game.
Offense
- Utah has scored 30-plus points in all five games. The last time Utah accomplished that feat in its first five games was the 1994 season.
- The Utes totaled 541 yards of offense tonight (258 passing, 283 rushing). It was the second time this season that Utah has gone over 500 total yards.
- In total, the Utes had 32 first downs, tying for ninth-most in a single game in program history.
- Utah was a perfect 5-for-5 in the red zone tonight, scoring touchdowns on all five red zone opportunities.
- Utah out-gained Kansas in the first quarter, 112-30. It was helped by eight first downs for the Utes (Kansas had one).
- Quarterback Devon Dampier was 23-of-30 passing for 238 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. He also rushed 17 times for 71 yards—both season-highs—and a touchdown. He is 15-2 as the starter at Utah.
- Per Stats Perforn, Dampier's .882 winning percentage over the last two seasons ranks fifth in FBS.
- Dampier eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for his two seasons at Utah and now has 1,041 rushing yards in his time as a Utah Ute. He is the fourth quarterback in Utah history to rush for 1,000 yards.
- Fellow quarterback Byrd Ficklin rushed five times for 30 yards and completed a 20-yard pass during the game.
- Running back Wayshawn Parker rushed 16 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching two passes for 36 yards—giving him a total of 207 all-purpose yards. He now has 11 total touchdowns for the season (seven rushing, four receiving).
- Parker rushed for a career-best 174 yards in Utah's Week 4 game at Iowa State. He is the first Utah player since the 2021 season to rush for 170-plus yards in back-to-back games. He is also the first player since Zack Moss in 2019 to have 200 all-purpose yards in back-to-back games.
- Parker put the game away with a 90-yard rushing touchdown during the fourth quarter. It was a career-long rush for Parker, the longest play of the season for the Utes and the first rushing play of 90-plus yards for the team since the game at Stanford in 2021.
- Parker rushed for a five-yard touchdown to cap off Utah's game-opening drive. The Utes have scored a touchdown on all five game-opening drives this season.
- Wide receiver Ricky Johnson went off for a career-best 104 receiving yards after Johnson caught all five passes thrown his way. It included Johnson's first touchdown as a Utah Ute, as well as a career-long 45-yard scamper.
- Dampier found Johnson for a two-yard passing touchdown midway through the third quarter. It capped off a 15-play, 82-yard drive that took 7:24 off the clock. It was the most plays in a Utah drive this season and second-longest in terms of possession time.
- Tonight's game was the first since the 2025 Las Vegas Bowl that Utah had both a 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game.
- Rhino Semi Taulanga had a one-yard touchdown reception for his first score as a Utah Ute. It came at a crucial moment as Utah returned its lead to double digits.
- Tight end Noah Bennee caught a six-yard dart from Dampier during the second quarter for Bennee's third touchdown of the season. He previously had one apiece vs. Idaho and Arkansas.
Defense
- The Utah defense held Kansas to a 1-of-6 third-down conversion rate during the first half.
- Safety Rabbit Evans made seven tackles and 1.5 TFL, both season-highs. Evans and linebacker Johnathan Hall made a crucial fourth-down stop during the fourth quarter, stopping KU quarterback Isaiah Marshall at the one-yard line and preserving what was then a 10-point lead for the Utes.
- Evans has made a pass breakup in back-to-back games.
- Hall and cornerback Elijah Davis had two PBUs apiece. It was a career-best for Hall while Davis tied his single-game high.
- Davis also tied his career-high with six tackles, while safety Jackson Bennee contributed a season-high six stops.
Special Teams
- Punter Orion Phillips booted a season-long 56-yard punt during the second quarter.
