LUBBOCK, Texas – The Utah track & field team wrapped up its time at the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday inside the Sports Performance Center and was highlighted by four individual medalists. The Women of Utah finished the weekend ninth as a team with 30 points – their best finish so far since joining the league.
Bri Rinn got the Utes started on the right track Saturday, earning Utah's first individual medal at the championships when she finished fourth-overall with a run of 4:32.23 (aa) in the mile.
Kyla Martin then went out and earned Utah's second medal when she narrowly bested her school record in the 1000m race and took second-overall after crossing the finish line at 2:45.56 (aa).
Sophomore
Chelsea Amoah once again broke her own school record that she had reset just last night when went out and ran 22.91 (aa) for second-overall in the finals of the 200m dash.
Erin Vringer became Utah's fourth medalist on the day after she finished fifth-overall in the 3000m run (8:51.98 aa).
Emily Junginger was the next finisher for Utah, crossing the finish line at 9:21.08 (aa) for a new personal best while
Millie Wilcox, who ran in her first 3000m race, finished right behind her at 9:23.60 (aa) and was followed by
Josie Fale at :24.14 (aa).
Annastasia Peters (9:29.15 aa),
Mackenzie Rogers (9:41.04 aa) and
Lauren Ayers (10:09.89) rounded out the group of competitors for Utah in the 3000m race.
The 4x400m relay crew of
Kinzlee Riddle,
Matejah Mangum, Amoah and
Emily Martin wrapped up the weekend in the LBK for Utah with a time of 3:37.49 (aa).
UP NEXT
Utah will now await to see if their times this indoor season qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships – which will take place in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Tyson Track Center.
