SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah women's tennis team will return home this week to take on Big 12 opponents in the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (March 26) and Kansas State Wildcats (March 28). The Utes are currently 12-5 on the season, 5-2 in Big 12 play and ranked No. 33 on the ITA polls.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
The No. 25 ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls are coming off a 4-1 win against the No. 36 Baylor Bears this past weekend. The Cowgirls are now 8-6 overall and 5-2 in Big 12 play.
The Cowgirls secured the doubles point advantage with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Cowgirls No. 12 Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp defeated Bear's duo Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. Komar and Nijkamp are currently 11-1 this season.
The Cowgirls have three Top 100-ranked singles players with No. 27 ranked Rose Marie Kijkamp, No. 74 ranked Olivia Lincer and No. 76 ranked Lucia Peyre.
The Cowgirls are coached by Sergey Avdeyev who is entering his second year with the Pokes.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The No. 62 ranked Wildcats are coming off a 4-2 loss against the No. 25 ranked TCU Horned Frogs this past weekend after capturing the doubles point advantage.
In doubles action against the Horned Frogs, the Wildcats secured the doubles point with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3. Wildcats' freshmen Varvara Bernovich and Diana Smolinska defeated TCU's Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson in the no. 2 spot, 6-2. Wildcats' freshman Sasha Kyselova and sophomore Chanel Rustemova won in the no. 3 position, defeating TCU's Cayetana Gay and Tomi Main 6-2. Kyselova and Rustemova are 4-3 as a duo in Big 12 play.
In singles action, K-State's Maralgoo 2. Maralgoo Chogsomjav defeated TCU's Victoria Gomez O'Hayon 7-5, 6-4 to give the Cats their second point of the match.
Kansas State have a No. 54 ranked doubles pairing in Mongolian sisters, Martaa Chogsomjav and Maralgoo Chogsomjav. The sisters have an overall record of 9-4 on the season and a 4-2 record in Big 12 play.
The Wildcats are on a 4-match losing streak and will face the BYU Cougars on Thursday, March 26 before dueling the Utes on Saturday, March 28. Â

Colorado battled back and picked up two wins on courts No. 2 and No. 1.
At the No. 5 spot, Utah's
Emma Valletta won her first set 6-4 but dropped 5-7 in the second to Anya Nelson. In the third set, Valletta battled for a 6-4 win to clinch the overall match victory for the Utes.
The Utes are currently on a six-match winning streak and are undefeated at home this season.
HEAD COACH RUTH ANN ALLEN
The Utah women's tennis team welcomedÂ
Ruth Ann Allen as head coach this past season. A Utah native and a Utah All-American and Hall of Famer, Allen returns to lead the program after a successful tenure as head coach at Weber State. She guided the Wildcats to a Big Sky Championship in 2023 and was twice named Big Sky Coach of the Year (2022, 2023).
Before Weber State, Allen spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where she helped the Utes secure multiple NCAA Tournament bids, two Mountain West Conference titles, and numerous top-five regional rankings. Allen, an All-American during her playing career at Utah, was inducted into the Utah Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2023.

The Utes will return to the Lonestar state to face the TCU Horned Frogs (April 2) and Baylor Bears (April 4) before wrapping up the regular season at home against Arizona (April 9) and Arizona State (April 11). Â
