Fale Opens Day One at Drake Relays with a Win

Sophomore Josie Fale won the 1500m unseeded race on Thursday to open the weekend at Drake Relays.
DES MOINES, Iowa – Josie Fale got the Utah track & field team's weekend going on Thursday by winning the 1500m unseeded race at Drake Stadium in the 116th running of the Drake Relays.

Fale kept pace at the top of the pack for most of the race until the field headed into the final lap. The sophomore kicked things into high gear as they began the final 400m and never looked back to secure the 1500m unseeded section victory with a time of 4:29.86. Teammate Grace Moroney finished shortly after Fale with a run of 4:33.60 to take fourth-overall.

The Women of Utah will return to the famed blue oval on Friday as they get ready to compete in the 4x1600m relay, 800m and 1500m.
