Utes extend their three-set undefeated streak to seven

GREELEY, Colo.– Utah Volleyball posted its second sweep of the weekend at the UNC Invitational, this time over the Denver Pioneers (25-11, 25-16, 25-21).

The Utes are undefeated in three-set matches in 2026, 7-0.

Everybody grab your brooms again ??????

SET ONE
Utah quickly jumped to a 4-0 lead over Denver to start set one aided by three Pioneer attack errors and a kill from Loryn Helgesen.

The Utes stayed relentless, building an 8-1 advantage and forcing a Pioneer timeout. Katelynn Field went back-to-back on kills while two Denver mistakes led to Utah's 4-0 run.

In no time flat, the Utes took a 15-7 lead off an Ashley West and DyBorrah Johnson block.

An Isabella Mogridge ace took Utah to a 20-9 lead with ease. Field got the Utes to set point and a Denver service error ended the first set in Utah's favor, 25-11.

SET TWO
Three attack errors and two Kamryn Gibadlo kills gave Utah an early 5-1 advantage over Denver to start set two.

Back-to-back-to-back Lana Mijacic kills jumped the Utes up 8-3 and in the blink of an eye, Utah built a decisive 12-6 lead near the midway point of the set.

DyBorrah Johnson logged a kill for the Utes for a 20-15 advantage before Izzy Marco hit her second set of back-to-back aces for a new career high (4) to give Utah a 22-15 lead.

A Denver service error put the Utes at set point, setting up West for the final kills of set two, giving Utah a 25-16 win.

SET THREE
Mogridge added a kill to her resume to start the Utes off in set 3 and later followed up with an ace to make it a 5-1 game.

Denver got within one of Utah, 9-8, after going on a 3-0 run, but Johnson put a stop to the Pioneer streak with a kill, 10-8. Olga Musial checked into the match, continuing to extend Utah's lead, 11-8.

The Pioneers battled back again, this time tying the set and then taking their first lead of the entire match, 12-11.

Musial and Mijacic led the comeback with one kill (Musial) and two blocks, (Mijacic, combined) to retain the lead for the Utes heading into the media break, 15-12.

The Pioneers continued to keep the set close with Utah leading 17-15 down the stretch, but the Utes continued to thwart Denver's advances.

Langley Griffin checked into the match and launched an ace for a 19-16 advantage over Denver, setting up a Devyn Wiest kill later, 20-17.

Utah reached match point off a Johnson kill and logged its seventh sweep of the 2026 season, 25-21.
