• Utah moved to 6-1 overall on the season with the seven-point non-conference win over Utah Valley on Tuesday.
• Utah moved to 1-0 in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
• Utah head coach Larry Kyrstkowiak improved to 101-74 all-time at the helm of the Runnin’ Ute program. He is now 143-94 all-time in his coaching career.
• Utah led at the break, 41-36. UVU shot 53 percent (15-of-28) from the field in the first half, but were just 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. Utah shot 50 percent from the field (17-of-34) and were 4-of-10 from three-point range.
• Lorenzo Bonam led Utah at the break with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
• Kyle Kuzma was just 3-of-8 from the field in the first half, but pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the first 20 minutes of action.
• Both teams scored 22 points in the paint in the first half, but Utah out-scored the Wolverines 12-4 in points off turnovers and 8-2 in second-chance points.
• UVU’s Isaac Neilson led all players with 16 points in the first half.
• There were five ties and three different lead changes in the first half.
• UVU led the game for the first 6:27 until Lorenzo Bonam hit a bucket to tie the contest at 11-11. Utah took its first lead at the 12:04 mark in the first half.
• The Wolverines took back a one-point lead (76-75) with a three-pointer late in the contest, but would lead for just a total of 7:49 in the game. Utah led the game for 27:59.
• JoJo Zamora led the Utes in scoring with 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, becoming the first Ute to shoot 100 percent from the charity stripe (minimum of six attempts) in a game since Jakop Poeltl went 6-of-6 back on Dec. 28, 2015.
• Kyle Kuzma registered his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
• Bonam tallied 15 points and a team-high five assists on the night.
• Utah finished shooting .508 percent (31-of-61) from the field, .455 percent (10-of-22) from three-point range and .750 percent (15-of-20) from the charity stripe.
• UVU shot .492 percent (32-of-65) from the field and were just 7-of-20 (.350) from beyond the arc.
• Utah limited UVU’s leading scorer, former Ute Kenneth Ogbe) to a season-low three points in the game. He came into the contest averaging 15.6 ppg.
• Utah is back in action this Saturday, Dec. 10, with a road contest at Xavier. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. MT in Cincinnati, Ohio.
