The University of Utah athletics department concluded a year-long celebration of its 25-year history of varsity women's athletics with a banquet. The banquet, held May 6, recognized the top 25 all-time female student-athletes at Utah, as voted on by the fans. A complete list of the honorees and a brief synopsis of their accomplishments follows.
Elaine Alfano, gymnastics, 1982-85
Elaine was a three-time NCAA vault champion and a member of four NCAA championship teams. She was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 1999.
Deb Asper, basketball, 1980-84
Deb was a three-time all-conference basketball player and an All-American. She was the first female basketball player inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame.
Annette Ausseresses, softball, 1982-85
Annette was a first-team softball All-American and played for the gold medal Pan American team. She is a member of the Crimson Club Hall of Fame.
Brenda Barton-Whicker, volleyball, 1994-97
Brenda was a three-time all-conference selection, a district All-American and holds four Ute volleyball career records including career kills.
Alli Bills, basketball, 1994-98
Alli was a first-team all-conference basketball player and district All-American as a senior. She led the NCAA in assists in 1997 and is Utah's all-time assist leader.
Staci Burt, soccer, 1996-1999
Staci was a four time all-conference soccer player from 1996-99 and is Utah's career scoring leader with 38 career goals.
Toril Forland, skiing, 1975-78
Toril was an AIAW All-American, the National Skier of the Year and a 1972 Olympian. She competed for Utah's 1978 AIAW National Championship team. She was also a member of the Ute tennis team and was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 1995.
Charmelle Green, softball, 1988-91
Charmelle was an NCAA softball All-American in 1990 and 1991 and was the 1991 WAC Player of the Year.
Anne Handy, basketball, 1981-85
Anne was a two-time all-conference player and was named to the district All-American team as a senior in 1985. Anne is third in the Utes' career scoring with 1,760 points.
Mikki Kane-Barton, basketball and volleyball, 1989-93
Mikki was a two-sport athlete, making all-conference in both basketball and volleyball. She was the two-time WAC basketball MVP and led the nation in blocks as a senior volleyball player.
Kristen Kenoyer, gymnastics, 1990-93
Kristen's 14 first-team All-America awards ranks second in NCAA gymnastics history. She was the 1992 NCAA vault champion and competed for two NCAA championship teams
Julie Krommenhoek, basketball, 1994-98 Utah's only four-time all-conference basketball player, Julie was also the WAC Freshman of the Year and WAC player of the year. She is Utah's career scoring leader with 2,087 points.
Theresa Kulikowski, gymnastics, 1999-present
Theresa won the NCAA all-around and balance beam championships as a freshman in 1999. She was the NCAA runner-up on vault and floor and a five-time All-American. She was first alternate to the 1996 U.S. Olympic team.
Angie Leonard, gymnastics, 1996-99
Angie was the 1999 NCAA uneven bars champion and was a four-time All-American in the vault and uneven bars events.
Missy Marlowe, gymnastics, 1989-92
A member of the 1988 U.S. Olympic gymnastics team, Missy is the only gymnast ever to win the Honda Broderick Cup, honoring her as the nation's top collegiate female athlete. She won a record five NCAA individual championships, including the all-around, and competed for two NCAA Championship teams.
Robynn Masters, swimming, 1978-82
Robynn qualified for three AIAW National Swimming Championships in the freestyle events and received All-America honors. She was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame this spring.
Megan McCunniff, gymnastics, 1981-84
Megan won three NCAA individual championships, including two all-around titles, and competed for four NCAA championship teams. She was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 1996.
Suzanne Metz, gymnastics, 1992-95
Suzanne graduated as the NCAA all-around record holder and was a member of two NCAA championship teams. She was the 1994 NCAA vault runner-up.
Lisa Mitzel, gymnastics, 1983-86
Lisa was the 1985 NCAA floor exercise champion and a six-time All-American. She competed for four NCAA championship teams.
Jill Molen-Koeven, cross country/track, 1979-84
Jill was a seven-time All-American and the national champion in the 10,000 meters. As a junior, she had the fastest 10,000 meter time in the world. She placed sixth at the Olympic Trials. She was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 1997.
Lori Parrish, basketball, track, volleyball, 1978-81
Lori starred in three sports as a Ute: basketball, volleyball and track. She was all-conference in all three sports and a district All-American in basketball. She was inducted into the Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 1999.
Shelly Schaerrer, gymnastics, 1989-92
Shelly finished as the NCAA runner-up in the all-around and on uneven bars and floor exercise in 1990. She was a member of two NCAA championship teams.
Jane Stratton, tennis, 1971-75
Jane was the first female athlete at Utah to receive a scholarship and she became an All-America tennis player and two-time finalist at the National Women's Collegiate Championships. She was a 1992 Crimson Club Hall of Fame inductee.
Amy Timmel-Hogue, softball, 1991-94
As a senior, Amy was named an All-American and the WAC Softball Player of the Year. She holds numerous school records.
Aimee Trepanier, gymnastics, 1992-95
Aimee was a nine-time first-team All-American who competed for three NCAA championship teams.
