"Keith meant more to the team as a person. He was a very good leader and someone who enjoyed playing. He liked the challenge of undertaking the path necessary to become an outstanding player. It was a journey for him, and I think he very likely may have relished the journey more than the destination.
I liked the fact that Keith was an exemplary captain and someone who improved in every aspect of play every year. But what I liked best about Keith was not what happened on the court. I liked best the way he evolved as a student, his growth as a person, and the fact that he remained humble, and very much one of the guys for his entire career. Keith Van Horn represented the best of what the student-athlete is. He was someone who had a lot of fun on the court and off the court, was committed in the classroom, and above and beyond that, a willing participant in community endeavors. He was someone who any other player could look on as a role model. Keith will always be remembered by me as a better person than a player, and he was an outstanding player."

- Became first Utah consensus All-American since 1962.
- Became first player in conference history to be named WAC Player of the Year three times (1995, '96, '97).
- Only the second player in WAC history to make first-team all-WAC four years.
- District Player of the Year three years in a row (1995,'96,'97).
- Leading career scorer in Utah and WAC history with 2,542 points.
- Runnerup for Wooden Award, Boost-Naismith Award and RCA Player of the Year Awards.
- Two-time WAC Tournament MVP (1995 and 1997).
- 1996 Desert News Athlete of the Year.
- 1996 Utah M.S. Male Athlete of the Year.
- Third player in school history to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds.
- Second on Utah career rebound list with 1,074 rebounds.
- 50 double-doubles in points and rebounds in his career.
- Averaged 20.8 points and 8.8 rebounds during his career.
- Finished second in the nation in free throw shooting during the 1996-97, hitting .904 from the line.
- Became Utah's highest NBA draft choice ever when he was the second player taken in the 1997 draft.
