Chase Murdock is in his second season with the Utah Football program, serving as a defensive graduate assistant in 2022 after spending the 2021 season as a defensive administrative assistant.
Prior to joining the Utes in 2021, Murdock spent two seasons at North Park University, including being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2020. He also spent time with the linebackers, as the program’s strength and conditioning coach and the special teams coordinator in 2019 with the program finishing that season with zero blocked punts or kickoff return touchdowns by their opponents.
In 2018, Murdock was the linebackers coach at the University of St. Thomas, helping the defense to ranked first nationally. He coached two all-conference linebackers in Matt Mitchell and Adam Brant, who both earned first-team honors.
He served as the defensive coordinator for St. Viator High School in 2017 where he coached the team to qualify for the Illinois state playoffs for the first time in back-to-back seasons in over a decade. Prior to his stint with Viator, he coached the linebackers for Fremd High School in 2016 with Fremd also qualifying for the state playoffs that year.
Murdock, a Barrington, Ill., native graduated from Toledo in 2016 with a degree in sports management. He was a three-year starter at Toledo, earning FAM Sophomore All-America in 2013 and Hustle Belt’s Mid America Conference second-team honors. He was second in the MAC in total tackles in 2013 with 9.9 per game, also leading the program in 2015 to Toledo ranking fifth nationally in rushing defense.
