Maxwell Cotton enters his third season overall with the University of Utah Football staff and his first as an offensive quality control assistant, seeing the Utes win back-to-back Pac-12 titles and Rose Bowl appearances. From 2021-22, he served as an offensive and special teams student assistant.Â
As part of the coaching staff, Cotton assists the offense and special teams with scout team and opponent breakdowns while also doing play charting and opponent coverages during games. He also runs scout defensive back meetings while also running scout team periods in practices.
Cotton played for the football team at Utah from 2019-2021, earning Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll in 2020. He graduated with his degree in communications in 2021.
During his high school playing days at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., he was a two-way player and a team captain, also excelling in lacrosse. Prior to his football days, he worked as an actor, receiving acting credits in movies "Elysium", "Gangster Squad" and "Mr. Popper's Penguins."
