SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah junior women's tennis player, Megan Payne, had arguably the best weekend in Ute women's tennis history, Jan. 29 and 30. This week, the Western Athletic Conference rewarded Payne for her efforts by selecting her as the WAC player of the week. Payne's phenomenal weekend began by defeating the nation's 35th ranked player, Katherine Nasser of Northwestern, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. It concluded in even finer fashion, as she ousted the 1997 NCAA runner-up from Florida, M.C. White, 7-6, 6-3. Payne improved her record to 6-0. Payne's Utes seek their first team victory on Friday against Idaho State at 5:00 p.m. at the Eccles Tennis Center.
