Utah Continues Hot Streak with 4-2 Win Over Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. – The Utah women's tennis team continued its hot streak picking up a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes Saturday afternoon.
The Utes now have a 12-5 overall record and sit at 5-2 in Big 12 play. Utah is now on a six match win streak.
DOUBLES
The Utes secured the doubles point advantage to start the match off. Emma Valletta and Sara Akid picked up a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot over Colorado's Aya El Sayed and Pia Rebec. Emmie Moore and Emma Kamper clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot over the Buff's Lera Alexin and Rixt Van Der Werff.
At the No. 3 spot Dylan Lolofie and Kamea Medora were up 4-3 in their set before it was left unfinished.
SINGLES
Utah started singles off with a win at the No. 3 spot. Emmie Moore downed Ema Bubalo 6-3, 6-2.
Kaila Barksdale then picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win over Lera Alexin at the No. 4 to give the Utes a 3-0 edge.
Colorado didn't let the goose egg stand on the board for long as the Buffs picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 spots.
Both Emma Valletta and Hayley Roberts were locked into third sets. At the No. 5 spot, Valletta won her first set 6-4 but battled in a 5-7 loss in the second to Anya Nelson. In the third set Valletta persevered to pull out a 6-4 win to clinch the overall match victory for the Utes.
At the No. 6 spot, Roberts dropped her first set 2-6 to Colorado's Yukiko Ikedo. Roberts fought for a 6-4 win in the second set. Roberts was down 4-5 and tied 30 all in the third set before it remained unfinished.
UP NEXT
The Utes will return to Salt Lake City to host Kansas State Thursday, March 26 before hosting Oklahoma State Saturday, March 28.
