TULSA, Okla. - Utah held on for a 2-1 win in the opener and lost the nightcap 4-1 to split a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader against Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at Broken Arrow Field.
Sarah Farnworth gave up just one run off of four hits and struck out five in seven innings in game one. She improved to 14-8, recording her fourth consecutive win.
Utah scored two runs in the top of the fifth to break a scoreless tie. Tulsa came back in the bottom of the seventh to get a run off of three consecutive singles with one out. However, the Golden Hurricane left two on base to end the game.
Ute starter Kristin Arbogast lasted only one-third of an inning in the second game, giving up four hits and three runs. Arbogast fell to 9-12, losing her third straight decision. Offensively, Utah scratched out just four hitsthree of which were doublesagainst Tulsa starter Angela Wedlake, who improved to 6-9.
Utah (23-20, 7-6 WAC) and Tulsa (19-36, 6-4 WAC) play the final game of the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
