Women's Tennis Takes On Weber State

This Week:
The University of Utah women's tennis team (3-5) will cap off a five-match home stand against Weber State (7-3) on Leap Day, Tues., Feb. 29, at 5:00 p.m. at the Eccles Tennis Center.
About the Utes:
Utah is currently on a five-match losing streak after losing a tight contest to No. 63 Southern Methodist, 5-4, on Saturday. The lower half of the lineup won out to go 3-3 in singles, but the Utes could only garner one doubles victory, putting them at 2-7 in doubles play over the last three matches.
Frida Kareld tipped Katie Pruett, 6-0, 7-6 at No. 4, while Linn Ronnberg and Anna Stechert won in straight sets as well in the five and six spots respectively. Brooke Wilkinson and Linn Ronnberg earned the lone doubles victory upending the SMU tandem of Herring-Pruett, 8-4.
Irini Kotoglou's knee injury was apparently not as serious as first assumed. She was in the lineup at No. 3 Sat. and won a set on the tender knee.
Megan Payne-Dorny has fallen from the rankings for the first time in two years. The senior is 13-8 on the year.
About the Wildcats:
Weber State is currently 7-3 in dual matches. The Wildcats are enjoying what may be their deepest team ever, led by No. 51 Lenka Zacharova. Zacharova darted up the rankings to 51st after being previously unranked. She has done so with an 11-2 record. Recently, Zacharova has earned the Big Sky Player of the Week award.
Therina Steenkamp and Veronica Reynosa are two other notables for the Wildcats at 14-12 and 13-10 respectively.
