This Week: The University of Utah women's tennis team (1-4) makes the trek to Boulder, Colo. to play the University of Colorado (2-4) Sat., Feb. 17 at 6 p.m.
About the Utes: Utah is currently on a three-match losing streak. The Utes lost in the final of a three-match home stand to No. 56 Purdue 4-3, before falling 7-0 at No. 68 Kansas and No. 43 Kansas State.
Heid Thomas and Frida Kareld paired up for Utah's lone victory on the Kansas road swing, winning 8-5 at No. 3 doubles over Kansas' Kim Lorenz and Emily Haylock.
Freshman Sheri Esrock was another bright spot for Utah. Competing in her first collegiate match, just after being cleared by the NCAA, the South African won 6-0 in her first ever set at No. 4. She lost the match to Paulina Castillejos of Kansas State, dropping the next two sets 6-1, 6-4, but was a positive for the Utes.
Looking Ahead:
Utah travels to Pullman, Wash. Feb. 23 to face No. 66 Washington State at 1 p.m. The Utes then conclude a six-match road stint in Seattle, Wash. Feb. 25 and 26 against No. 30 Washington and No. 50 UC-Irvine. Those matches are at 2 p.m. and 10 a.m. respectively.
