Lawree, Kan. - The University of Utah women's tennis team (1-3) was shutout by No. 68 Kansas (1-0), 7-0.
Utah won its lone match at No. 3 doubles, where Heidi Thomas and Frida Kareld downed Kim Lorenz and Emily Haylock, 8-5. Kansas earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2. Linn Ronnberg battled Cheryl Mallaiah in three sets at No. 2, but fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Thomas was the only other Ute to force a third set at No. 6, as the rest of Utah was dropped in straight-sets.
