Utah-BYU Softball Contest Halted By Darkness

ALBUQUERQUE - Today's softball game between BYU and Utah in Albuquerque was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning due to darkness. The game will be resumed on Saturday (May 12) at 9:00 a.m. (MDT). Friday's contest was stopped after 3 1/2 innings with BYU leading 4-1.
Should BYU hold on to win the game they will face San Diego State, a 4-3 winner over New Mexico earlier in the day, at Noon (MDT) for the 2001 Mountain West Conference title and NCAA automatic berth.
Should Utah come back and win the game then a second game between BYU and Utah will be played 20 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. The winner will then face SDSU for the championship 30 minutes following the conclusion of that contest.
