THIS WEEK: The Utes hit the road to take on the Purdue Boilermakers and Northwestern. The Purdue match will be held on Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m. in Lafayette, Ind. The Northwestern bout will be played on Feb. 3 at noon. This will be Utah's first road matches of the season.
THE UTES: Defeated Weber State in impressive fashion last week, 4-2. With this win the Utes have increased their winning streak to 3-0. Sophomore Sheri Esrock added another win to her undefeated duel record (3-0) by defeating Tiffany Smith, 6-1, 6-1. Irini Kotoglou overwhelmed Chelsea Drews in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Utah's Cassie Kasteler doused Briana Beachene, 6-0, 6-0.
Kotoglou and Hansen defeated Tara Rosenzweig and Drews in doubles, 8-3. Linn Ronnberg and Esrock were victorious over Beachene and Smith, 8-4.
COMING UP: The women netters will travel to San Francisco, Calif., to take on San Francisco University. This match will be played Feb. 13, at 10:00 p.m.
QUOTING COACH TSUMAS: "We have defeated some very good teams and I hope we can play this well on the road. This will be a big test for our team. Playing on the road is extremely different than playing at home. I just hope we are ready for the challenge."
