BOZEMAN, Mont. - After wrapping up the alpine events at the Montana State Invitational, the University of Utah ski team is on top of the standings. Saturday's slalom events wrapped up the alpine portion of the competition.
Freshman Pierre Olsson claimed victory for the Utes in the men's slalom event. In friday's giant slalom, Olsson placed second. Defending NCAA slalom champion, Jernej Bukovec, finished in a tie for fourth in the slalom while Josh Whitham placed 20th and Kristian Guay placed 24th.
Annik Boulva led the way for the women's team with a third place finish, followed by April Mancuso in fifth, Christina Babilis in 23rd and Danielle Bird in 33rd.
Utah's team performance gave it the advantage over Nevada in the slalom standings. Overall, the Utes lead Denver by four points. The nordic events will wrap up the competition on Jan. 9-10.
