THIS WEEK: Utah's women's tennis team will battle Idaho State and top-ranked SMU. The Idaho State match will be held at the Salt Lake Tennis Club, Mar. 8 at 2:00 p.m. The SMU match will begin Mar. 10 at 11:00 a.m. This match will be held at the Eccles Tennis Center.
THE UTES: Utah suffered three tough loses against three nationally ranked teams this weekend. Utah was defeated by No. 12 Washington State, No. 59 Kansas and No. 27 Washington State. In the Washington match, senior Linn Ronnberg competed against No. 66 ranked Claire Carter. Ronnberg eventually lost to Carter, 7-6, 6-1. Against Kansas, freshman Allison Hansen lost a decisive set against Kim Lorenz to decide the match, 7-6, 6-4 and in the Washington State match, both Ronnberg and Sheri Esrock competed against top-ranked opponents. Ronnberg was defeated by No. 67 Erica Perkins, 6-4, 6-3 and Esrock was etched out by No. 34 Stacy McKenna, 6-0, 7-6.
COMING UP: Next up the Utes will take on Rice and No. 33 ranked TCU. The Rice match will be held Mar. 15 at 6:00 p.m. The TCU match will begin Mar. 17 at 11:00 a.m. These matches will both be held at the Eccles Tennis Center.
