COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--The Mountain West Conference announced its 2002 All-Academic Team for the sport of softball on Tuesday. The Utes had seven student-athletes receiving honors, which was the second-most in the league. To be eligible for the selection, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor. All of the seven Utes named to the team, are repeat selections.

"This past spring semester was very difficult for our kids because of the travel schedule and demands we had due to the Olympics," said head coach Mona Stevens. "To have the second-most honors of anyone in the conference, is a true testament to the quality of kids we have in our program."
