SALT LAKE CITY - Britton Johnsen and Tim Frost, two players who figure to be major contributors on the Runnin' Ute men's basketball team this season, helped the NIT All-Stars college select team go 5-1 during its recent tour of Canada. Utah was the only college to have two players on the team, which played six games July 25-31 against Canadian national and club teams.
Johnsen, a 6-9 forward from Murray, Utah, averaged 8.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He also had double-figure points in three games and rebounds once. Johnsen was recently named one of 50 preseason candidates for the John R. Wooden Award.
Frost, a 6-10 post player from Klamath Falls, Ore., averaged 5.7 points and 4.8 rebounds and shot 75.0 percent from the foul line. He had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the final game of the tour. Frost sat out last season at the U. after transferring from Portland, where he was named first team all-West Coast Conference in 2000-01.
