SALT LAKE CITY -- - ReleaseD: Feb. 18, 2003
This Week: The University of Utah women's tennis team (2-4) will be in action this Wednesday,, Feb. 19, as they host the Idaho State Bengals (4-1). The match will be at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake and is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Utes To Watch: Ellen Svensson and Cassie Kasteler played well against the one of the nation's top doubles teams las weekend, the Steinbock twins from Kansas, losing just 9-7. Against Kansas State, also last weekend, Kasteler played well against one of the region's top players, Petra Sedlmajerove, losing in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Quoting Head Coach Megan Dorny: "Our match against Kansas State was pretty disappointing. The match with Kansas, despite the loss, was a good test for our team. We've been working so hard on our doubles, and that match was a good gauge for our improvement. We had three three-set losses, two of which came under the difficult 10-point tie-breaks. We were in position to win. In matches that are this close, in the future I expect to see a closer outcome and eventually a win."
Coming Up: The Utah women will host Weber State next week, Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the Eccles Tennis Center.
