SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The University of Utah women's tennis team continued their home stand against Boise State on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Eccles Tennis Center. Boise State ended Utah's two match wining streak with a 7-0 victory. The Utes move to 2-1 on the season.
In singles competition, Boise State's Anna Curtolo snuck past sophomore Allison Hansen at the five with a score of 4-6, 7-5, (7). Senior Cassie Kasteler fell to Renate Stoop at the one (0-6, 5-7) and Jemima Hayward defeated junior Sheri Esrock at the two (6-1, 6-4).
In doubles competition, freshman Maria Svensson and Hansen teamed up to get Utah's only victory with an 8-4 win over Boise State's Curtolo/ Pongratz.
"Allison Hansen played extremely confident and smart, but unfortunately came out short," states Assistant Coach Ruth Ann Escobedo.
Next the Ute's will head on a two match road trip beginning at Kansas State on Saturday, Feb. 15 and ending at the University of Kansas on Sunday, Feb. 16.
