This Week: The University of Utah women's tennis team will meet up with Brigham Young this Saturday, Feb. 8, to open up Mountan West Conference play. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
Utes To Watch: Sophomore Allison Hansen teamed up with Maria Svensson last week in the only match the Utes won last weekend against Boise State. "Allison played extremely confident and smart," Assistant Coach Ruth Escobedo said.
Last Action: The Utes hosted Boise State on Feb. 2 at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City. The Utes were shut out 7-0 by the Broncos. Hansen and Svensson teamed up to defeat Anna Curtolo and Carolina Pongratz. However, with the other doubles teams falling, the Utes were not able to capture the doubles point.
In singles, Hansen kept her match with Curtolo close, but fell 6-4, 5-7 (7).
Coming Up: Utah will be on the road on Feb. 15 and 16 as they will make a trip to the midwest. The Utes will be in Manhattan, Kan. to take on Kansas State on Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. The next day, they will meet up with the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawerence in a time to be announced.
