Phoenix, Ariz.--The Utes dropped to 1-2 on the season after losing 0-1 to No. 23 Oregon State at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament on Saturday. The lone run in the game came on a home run by Beaver hitter Adrienne Alo in the fourth off Ute hurler Heather Bowlin. Bowlin threw a strong game for Utah, giving up just one run off five hits and three Ute errors. Oregon State improves to 8-0 on the season.
"I'm really pleased with the way our team came back from last night's game against Iowa State, where we knew we gave the win away because of errors. The athletes turned around and played really well against Oregon State, who was rolling through its other games. Heather (Bowlin) threw a great game and only gave up the one strong hit," said Head Coach Mona Stevens.
Utah only posted one hit in the game, but almost tied it on a shot to the fence by Melissa Stahnke that a Beaver outfielder snagged. Utah faces No. 24 Texas A&M later today and will battle No. 13 Arizona State on Sunday.
