SALT LAKE CITY--Utah continued to struggle at home dropping it's third straight game, this time to New Mexico, 7-3, on Sunday. The Utes (17-24, 5-8) stranded seven runners in the game and committed two errors.
The Utes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after RBI singles by Niki Hayhurst and Lynsey Wall. The Lobos answered with two of their own in the top of the second to tie it up at 2-2. In the third, Glennis Donnelly hit her third home in three games to give Utah a 3-2 advantage. In the fourth, New Mexico tied it up again and went on to take the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. The Lobos added to the lead with another pair in the seventh to put the score at 7-3.
Brianna Gourdin (3-1) picks up her first loss of the season after scattering six hits and allowing five runs (four earned) in 5.1 innings. Iraina Ogas (8-10) picks up the win after relieving Amy Dumas in the first inning.
Donnelly finished a perfect 3-of-3 at the plate and Hayhurst had two hits in the game.
