BOISE, IDAHO - The University of Utah women's tennis team completed the third day of the Boise Invitational with a 7-0 loss to No. 59 ranked Boise State.
In doubles play the Utes fell hard to the Broncos. At the No. 1 spot, senior Sheri Esrock and freshman Cinthia Saucedo lost to Jemima Hayward and Erin Polowski (8-2). Boise State's Alissa Ayling and Megan Borkman defeated freshman Whitney Eber and sophomore Jenessa Jackson (8-2) at the No. 2 spot. Senior Rachel Alder teamed up with freshman Jessica Watts but fell to Tiffany Coll and Ann Curtolo (8-6) at the No. 3.
In singles play, Utah did not pick up any wins. At the No. 1 spot, Esrock fell to Hayward (6-2, 6-3) and Eber fell to Ayling (6-2, 6-1) at the No.2. Boise State's Biorkman defeated Saucedo at the No. 3 and Carolina Pongratz beat Watts (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 4 spot. At the No. 5, Alder lost to Coll (6-2, 6-2). Playing at the No. 6, Jackson was downed by Bronco Jelena Koprivica (6-0, 6-1).
The Utes are now 2-1 overall. Next Saturday the women's tennis team hosts Kansas State at noon in the Eccles Tennis Center.
