Lawrence, Kan.--The Utah softball team dropped its game to Kansas 2-1 at the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic. The loss puts the Utes at 6-8 on the year. Utah now faces No. 17/18 Nebraska.

Freshman Samantha Schroeder threw a strong game for Utah, but unfortunately earned her first loss of the season. She is now 2-1 on the year.

Utah's lone run came off a deep ball by junior Kate Nygaard. It was Nygaard's fourth homer of the season. Utah had chances to bring in more runs, but stranded a total of nine runners in the contest.
