LAWRENCE, Kan.The Utah softball team fell to No. 17/18 Nebraska 9-1 at the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic this afternoon. It was the Utes second loss of the day and fourth straight overall. Utah (6-9) faces both Kansas and Nebraska again on Sunday.
Nebraska's Peaches James had her way with the Utah hitters through six innings. Ivette Hernandez's solo home run was the Utes' only bright spot in the game.
Senior Heather Bowlin started the game for Utah before being relieved by sophomore Brianna Gourdin. The loss drops Bowlin to 0-4 on the year.
