> Utah (4-4, 2-3 MWC) gets a breather from competition this week, returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Wyoming (4-4, 2-3 MWC) in Salt Lake City ... Wyoming also has a bye this week ... Kickoff is 1:00 p.m. MT in Rice-Eccles Stadium ... There will be no TV.
> Utah's 42-32 win at UNLV on Oct. 22 snapped a three-game losing streak. The Utes can become bowl eligible by winning two of their three remaining games.
> Utah is 3-1 in Rice Eccles Stadium this season. The Utes beat Arizona (27-24), Utah State (31-7) and Air Force (38-35) before falling to San Diego State (28-19) on Oct. 15.
> Utah has played Wyoming coming off a bye week two other times in the last five years--winning both (35-0 in 2001 and 47-17 in 2003).
> The Utes will remain in state for the remainder of the season, with home games against Wyoming (Nov. 5) and New Mexico (Nov. 12) and a road game at Brigham Young (Nov. 19).
> Utah leads the Mountain West Conference in total offense and ranks 19th in the nation, averaging 453.9 yards per game. For complete Utah rankings, please see page 3 of this release.
> Utah's most recent game was the 1,000th in school history and its 200th all-time road victory.
LAST GAME
Quinton Ganther rushed for a career-high 155 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Utah past UNLV, 42-32, in Las Vegas on Oct. 22. Ganther, who averaged 10.3 yards per rush, had touchdown runs of 63 and 40 yards in a 21-point Utah third quarter. Quarterback Brian Johnson also posted dazzling numbers, completing 20-of-29 passes for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. He rushed for 73 yards to finish with 337 yards of total offense. John Madsen had 114 receiving yards and Utah's first two touchdowns of the game. His second TD grab gave Utah a 14-10 lead and the Utes never trailed again. Utah's lead ballooned to 42-20 after the second of Ganther's long TD runs, but UNLV struck twice in the final five minutes to close within 10 points. Spencer Toone (12 tackles) and Eugene Oates (10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a sack) led the defense. Casey Evans and Shaun Harper each had an interception.
