BOZEMAN, Mont. - The University of Utah Nordic team sits in third place after day one at the Montana State Invitational, earning 223.5 points. Colorado leads the event with 306.5 points.
The Utes were led by Snorri Einarsson who finished with a time of 25:50.41, finishing second in the men's 10K freestyle. Fabian Figi placed ninth with a time of 26:48.38 and Even Sletten placed 17th, crossing the finish line in 27:21.73.
"It was awesome to see Snorri fighting for the win again," commented Head Coach Eli Brown. "That guy is a competitor...he definitely doesn't like to finish second. It was also nice to see that Fabian could have a good race after crashing last weekend."
In the women's 5K freestyle Utah was led by Sara Schweiger, whose time of 15:08.93 earned her 11th place. Following Schweiger was Annalies Cook (15:26.46, 16th) and Sarah MacCarthy (15:30.62, 19th).
The women's races went ok, though we didn't have as good of results as last week, said Coach Brown. "I'm really looking forward to see what we can do tomorrow."
The MSU Invite will conclude tomorrow, Saturday, January 20th, in Bozeman, Mont. Please see utahutes.com for further updates and results.
