The University of Utah women's tennis team will take on Rice University on Tuesday at Eccles Tennis Center. Match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. MST.
The Opposition
Rice University is currently ranked No. 70 by the ITA, as of Feb. 27, 2007. The team has an overall 3-9 record; 2-7 at home, and 1-2 in away matches. The Owls were last seen playing a Mountain West Conference school on March 3, 2007. The squad took on No. 26 TCU for a 1-6 loss to the Horned Frogs.
Ute Notes
The Lady Utes are fresh off of a 7-0 win over the Utah State Aggies, edging their season to 5-4 (4-2 at home, 1-2 away). In the match against the Aggies, Ute duo Karine Bourdages and Andrea Maughan dominated 8-0 over Bridgette Strickland and Erin Crane at the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, Emily Kwok posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Dee-Dee Nelson at the No. 2 slot. Representing the Utes at the No. 3 slot, Cheyenne Reveche stepped up her game to nail a 6-0, 6-2 win over Lauren Monson from the Aggies. Another big win for the Utes came from senior Cinthia Saucedo at the No. 6 slot. Saucedo walked away with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Erin Crane to finish out the 7-0 win for the Ute squad.
