SALT LAKE CITY -
> No. 7/8 Utah (12-0, 8-0 MWC) must wait until Dec. 7 to learn its bowl destination after winning the Mountain West Conference championship outright with its 48-24 victory over No. 14/16 Brigham Young on Nov. 22.
> Utah, the original BCS Buster in 2004, is on the verge of becoming the first school from a non-automatic qualifying conference to play in a BCS bowl game twice. Potential bowl destinations for Utah include the FedEx Orange Bowl (Jan. 1), the Allstate Sugar Bowl (Jan. 2) and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 5).
> Utah moved up a spot to No. 6 in the Nov. 23 BCS Standings. The Utes remained at No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 8 in both the Associated Press and Harris polls.
> Utah's No. 6 BCS ranking on Nov. 23 ties its best in school history--which is also the best BCS ranking ever by a team from a non-automatic qualifying conference. The Utes rose to No. 6 in the final BCS standings of 2004.
> Utah is 12-0 for the second time in school history--tying the school mark set in 2004. Three Utah teams have completed an entire season without a loss: 1929 (7-0), 1930 (8-0) and 2004 (12-0).
> Utah has the longest win streak in the nation at 13. Next is Alabama with 12. Utah has won 20 of its last 21 games.
> The Utes have the second-longest current bowl win streak in the nation at seven games. Boston College is in first with eight straight postseason wins. Losing to Utah during the streak were Fresno State (1999), USC (2001), Southern Miss (2003), Pittsburgh (2005/2004 season), Georgia Tech (2005), Tulsa (2006) and Navy (2007).
> With two wins over ranked teams this season (then No. 11 TCU and No. 14/16 BYU), Utah improved to 6-0 all-time in games when both Utah and its opponent were nationally ranked.
> Utah is ranked No. 14 in the nation in scoring defense (17.2) and No. 16 in scoring offense (37.4).
> Utah punter/kicker Louie Sakoda has become the second player ever to be named a Ray Guy and Lou Groza finalist in the same season. The Ray Guy Award goes to the nation's top punter, while the Lou Groza Award honors the nation's top place-kicker. There are three finalists for both awards--and the winner of both will be announced at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 11. Also this week, Sakoda was named an ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-American.
