SALT LAKE CITY - The 44th-ranked Utah women's tennis team (6-6, 0-0) will kick off Mountain West Conference play this weekend by hosting Colorado State (4-6, 0-0) Friday March 27, at 1 pm at the Eccles Tennis Center. They will then face Wyoming (5-8, 1-0) on Saturday at noon and Air Force (4-5, 0-1) on Sunday at 10 a.m.
"We're very excited about this coming weekend," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "It marks the start of conference play and give us an opportunity to advance ourselves to the head of the MWC pack.
"Sunday will also be the last home match that seniors Leigh Walsh, Karine Bourdages, Dee Dee Nelson and Tamarin Espinoza will get to experience," continued Iandolo. " We are very appreciative of everything that they have brought to the program."
Last year Utah was victorious over all three of this weekend's opponents on their home courts. The Utes topped the Rams 5-2, downed the Cowgirls 4-1, and defeated the Falcons 7-0.
Utah is coming off a 6-1 loss to 41st-ranked Ohio State in Las Vegas, Nev. this past weekend. Colorado State had a 6-1 home win against Eastern Washington Saturday and will play BYU Thursday before meeting the Utes Friday.
Wyoming's last action came in a 5-2 win against Air Force on March 7. The Cowgirls will also face Utah State Thursday and BYU Friday before squaring off against Utah on Saturday.
The Falcons are looking to bounce back the 5-2 loss to Wyoming and will meet with BYU Saturday before heading up to Salt Lake City for Sunday's match.
