Whitney Holm then took first base after reaching on an error but the Aztecs managed a strikeout to end the threat.
Hemingway drove a single to right field with one out in the fourth inning for the Utes' first hit of the game off SDSU starter Samantha Beasley. Boardman then placed a sacrifice bunt in front of home plate to advance Hemingway to second base and into scoring position, but unfortunately, Utah could not capitalize.
SDSU got its offense going early in the game when Felicia Reifschneider drew a walk with one out in the first inning then Taryin Casillas connected on a two-run home run over the left-field fence. Her second home run of the season gave the Aztecs a 2-0 edge.

Jessica Camello then got on after a fielder's choice before Jen Wisneski knocked in an RBI double. Brittany Knudsen then reached after an error before Erin Floros pushed Camello across the plate. Wisneski and Knudsen were driven in by a two-run single by Taryin Casillas and Tonye McCorkle drove in the final run of the frame with an RBI single.
