Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham:
"TCU thoroughly outplayed us today and it was not even close. The score was not indicative of how lopsided this game was. They were better at every phase of the game and credit goes to their team."
"We were out-coached and out-played. Gary Patterson has something special there and they are an exceptionally high-quality football team."
"TCU whipped us in third-down conversions and we had four turnovers against a great team. That is a recipe for disaster and a lot of the credit for that is simply that we played the Horned Frogs." "We now have three games left and we will find out what this team is made of as we continue to move forward."
"I still believe we are a good team but it was painfully obvious today that we are not as good as TCU."
"This was a team loss without a doubt."
"We thought our best chance to win today was ball-control and the short passing game because no one has had much success running the ball against them this year."
Christian Cox:
"They smoked us in every phase of the game. It is disheartening and frustrating."
"The game turns quickly when we make turnovers and give up big plays, and that happened today."
Jordan Wynn:
"They just beat us today. They are a very good team."
"I had three turnovers and that can't happen against such a good team."
"They have good athletes and are a very sound team, but I don't think we played to our potential today."
Zane Taylor:
"We flat out got beat today, they are a great team and beat us in every aspect."
"TCU is the same team as last year, they are consistent and have great athletes at every position."
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson
On winning by such a large margin?
"Obviously, no coach would have predicted this. Our group has been in big games before. We played at Clemson last year. I talked about playing in the BCS game against Boise. This year we scheduled Oregon State to get us ready for the conference, to give ourselves a national game as far a measuring stick, and then Baylor. So, we understood what we had to do. We had confidence in our kids. I told them all week they needed to go play within themselves, and that they were going to have a loud crowd. These guys have won 21 straight and we had to get ready to play. Again, it goes with our quarterback and he played unbelievable."
Was the play of his defense exceptional today?
"They've been playing like they did. The key is we didn't try to play outside of ourselves. The thing is, we got more turnovers today than we normally have, which is something that in a big ballgame you had to do. They've got a good offense and the only way you stop it sometimes is to get the ball turned over, and we did that."
On why the offense was so successful?
"We took some shots. When we came in here last time we did not play very well offensively. We had a lot of yards but when we got into the red zone we didn't make any plays, so we wanted to take some shots. We got fortunate on the one coming off our goal line. We caught them in man coverage, one-on-one, and Josh Boyce made a play. Sometimes you just get lucky."
Was this the best Andy Dalton has played?
"I don't know. The Baylor game this year he threw for 97 percent, but it was very close."
What's left for you to prove this season?
"We've got a really good San Diego State team that's probably going to come in with one loss, so next week we've got to be able to handle San Diego State. But on a big scale--its like I told them in there--they've put themselves on a different plateau. The bottom line is they've put themselves on a different plateau, but they have to finish the season. We can only control what we can control, but I thought they made a statement today. Anybody else in the country that's gone into somebody else's house has usually gotten beat."
Do you think you should play for the national championship?
"We'll see. We'll see if we can win the next two weeks and then we'll have a conversation."
Is this as big of a statement as you could have made today?
"Well, I think so, because I think everybody understands what kind of a team Utah has, and for us to do it the way we did it today says a lot about what we've done as a program and what we do. We wanted to be peaking at the end of the year and I think we have an opportunity to do that."
