Tii-Maria Romar won the women's giant slalom race to lead the University of Utah ski team to second place in the team standings with 227 points Friday at the Denver Invitational, held at the Winter Park Resort.
Romar won the event with a time of 2:03.01, while Eva Huckova joined her on the podium in third place at time of 2:03.76. Jamie DuPratt and Anna Kocken took 14th and 15th place, respectively. DuPratt turned in a time of 2:05.77 and Kocken crossed the finish line in 2:05.86. Sofia Smith finished 16th at 2:06.24.
Jeremy Elliot placed fourth with a time of 1:52.31 and Nick Cohee joined Elliot in the top 10 in seventh place at 1:52.63. Torjus Krogdahl finished 11th in 1:52.94 and was followed by Eian Sandvik, who tied for 17th at 1:53.89.
The nordic freestyle races will be held Sunday in Aspen, Colo. The slalom races will be held on Sunday at Winter Park, Colo.
