Six Utes Receive Pac-12 Honors

SALT LAKE CITY - Senior third baseman Whitney Holm of the University of Utah softball team was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pacific Region Second Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
"Whitney had a fantastic year," Head coach Amy Hogue said. "She led our team in almost every offensive category for the entire season. We are all so proud of her."
Holm, a Spanish Fork, Utah, native, led the team in several statistical categories with a .381 batting average, 10 home runs, 43 RBI, 61 hits, and a .644 slugging percentage. She was second on the team this season with 15 multi-hit games, including two or more hits in five straight games from Mar. 3-9. Holm strung together a team-high 11-game hit streak from Feb. 25 through Mar. 10.
In the season opener against San Diego State, Holm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Aztecs. She recorded three hits in three at-bats to lead Utah to a victory at No. 24/RV New Mexico before registering a two-run home run against Western Michigan then had another two-run homer against UC Santa Barbara.
Holm posted a season-high four hits, while going 4-for-4 with four RBI, three runs scored and a home run against UC Riverside. She followed that up with a 3-for-3 performance with four RBI versus Cal State Northridge.
Against Pac-12 Conference opponents, she came up with a pair of RBI singles in the series against No. 1 California. Holm finished a home run short of the cycle during 3-for-4, one-RBI effort against No. 23 Oregon State on Apr. 28. Holm went 5-for-9 at the plate for a .556 batting average, 1.222 slugging percentage and four RBI during the series against No. 15/17 Stanford. In the May 12 season finale against the Cardinal, Holm went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI.
Holm started 208 of 209 career games at third base for the Utes and ended her career third in school history with 38 home runs and fourth with 134 RBI.
