Junior third baseman Taylor Austin earned a first-team nod, while senior outfielder Sandi Fawson and sophomore outfielder Kate Dickman took second-team honors. Senior second baseman Jackie Sweet and sophomore outfielder Marissa Mendenhall both gained honorable mention recognition.
Austin owns a 3.55 cumulative GPA, while studying Human Development and Family Studies. The Bountiful, Utah native started 28 games and made 32 appearances this season for the Utes. She went 3-for-3 with two runs scored against Colorado State on Feb. 22 and hit a double with a walk against Idaho State on Feb. 15. Austin stole a base against Arkansas on Feb. 10, had a single and scored a run at UNLV on Feb. 17 before drawing a walk and scoring against Syracuse on Mar. 16. She also had a base hit against No. 5/6 California on Mar. 23 and was 1-for-2 at the plate with a single against No. 17 Arizona on Mar. 28.
Fawson posted a 3.43 GPA in Health Education to earn second-team honors for the second straight season. The Herriman, Utah native appeared in 34 games with three starts in right field, while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She had a 2-for-2, one-RBI performance against No. 12 Washington on May 5. She went 1-for-2 at the plate with a single and run scored at UNLV on Feb. 17. Fawson stole a base against Ohio State on Feb. 24, had a steal at Utah Valley on Mar. 5 and started in left field at No. 9 Oregon on Apr. 3. She had putouts at Bethune-Cookman on Mar. 10, Arizona on Mar. 28 and Weber State on Apr. 10 and also scored runs against Seattle on Feb. 9, Nevada on both Feb. 10 and Feb. 23 and Idaho State on Feb. 15.
Dickman earned All-Pac-12 Second-Team honors after leading the Pac-12 with 15 doubles and tied for fourth in triples. In the league-only stats, Dickman tied for first with three triples, ranked fifth in RBI (24), tied for fifth in total bases (51) and was sixth in slugging (.708) in Pac-12 during conference games. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native boasted a team-high 16-game hit streak from Apr. 2 through Apr. 26. She drove in seven runs during Utah's 11-2 win at Oregon State on Apr. 13, which was a Pac-12 single-game high in league play, during a 3-for-4 outing against the Beavers that included two home runs. Dickman then hit two home runs and two triples for six RBI during a doubleheader against No. 15 UCLA on Apr. 6. She was 2-for-3 with four RBI in game one against the Bruins then went 2-for-2 with two RBI in the second contest. Dickman drove in four runs, including a two-run homer, in the final two games of Utah's series vs. No. 12 Washington.
Sweet was named to both the NFCA and Pac-12 Second Teams after tying for third in the Pac-12 with 10 double plays turned during conference games, ranked sixth with a .389 batting average, tied for sixth with 28 hits and tied for eighth with 18 runs scored. She became Utah's first-ever Pac-12 Player of the Week on Apr. 8 after hitting .550 with two doubles, a triple and a home run for a .900 slugging percentage six games at No. 9 Oregon and at home against No. 15 UCLA. In the overall stats, Sweet was second in the Pac-12 with 21 double plays turned. The Corona, Calif., native put together a 15-game hit streak from Mar. 22 through Apr. 10 and a 24-game reached base streak from Apr. 10 through Apr. 24. Sweet scored four times at Utah State, which tied the school-record mark. She was 2-for-4 with an RBI double and run during Utah's win over No. 2 Arizona St. on Apr. 19 after going 6-for-8 with two home runs and a double for six RBI in the final two games of the series against No. 17 Arizona.
Mendenhall tied for seventh in the Pac-12 in sacrifice flies, posted 14 multi-hit games to go with five multi-RBI outings. The Stansbury Park, Utah native hit a walk-off double in the Utes' 2-1 win over No. 12 Washington on May 3, driving in both runs against Huskies. She was 2-for-3 with a double against No. 2 Arizona State on Apr. 19, 2-for-4 with an RBI against Washington on May 4 and hit a two-run double at No. 5 Cal on Mar. 23. She was 5-for-5 with six RBI during a doubleheader sweep at Southern Utah, including a 3-for-3 effort with five RBI in game 1 then went 2-for-2 with an RBI in game 2. Mendenhall was 2-for-4 with a homer against Colorado State, 2-for-3 with a double in the second game of a twin bill against Weber State after homering in the first game against the Wildcats.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
