SALT LAKE CITY--It was a great fall semester in the classroom for Utah's student-athletes, who set several team and department records. The gymnastics team led the way with a 3.812 cumulative GPA, which set a school record for the best semester ever by a Utah team. Track and field (3.409) and men's swimming and diving (3.260) set new team semester GPA records, while football (2.828) recorded its all-time in-season high and its third-best semester GPA ever.
Twelve Utah teams received a cumulative report card of a 3.00 or better, including gymnastics (3.812), women's skiing (3.648), men's skiing (3.613), track and field (3.409), soccer (3.379), women's tennis (3.288), men's swimming (3.260), women's swimming (3.218), volleyball (3.215), women's basketball (3.088), men's basketball (3.025) and golf (3.005).
The overall GPA for all teams combined was a 3.126.
More than 60-percent of Utah's student-athletes made the Athletic Director Honor Roll (3.0 minimum GPA) and more than 30-percent made the University's Dean's List (3.5 minimum GPA).
