ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The No. 49 University of Utah women's tennis team improved to 6-2 as they downed New Mexico today at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex, 6-1.

Utah took an early lead as wins from Tereza Bekerova and Paige Miles at No. 1 doubles was followed by a victory by the pairing of Sarah Pham and Callie Craig to secure the doubles point.

The Ute success continued into singles play as Sarah Richter collected the first win of the afternoon, besting Meredith Hopson at the No. 4 position, 7-5, 6-2.

Miles and Craig each added singles wins to put the Utes up 4-0 and clinch the victory. Miles defeated Dominique Dulski out of the fifth spot (6-3, 6-2), while Craig earned the point over Natasha Smith at No. 3 (6-2, 6-3).

The Lobos grabbed a point as Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa narrowly lost to Emily Olivier, 6-3, 7-5.

Bekerova tallied a win in singles play as she downed Lizette Blankers at the No. 1 spot, 7-6, 6-3.

Pham improved her singles record to 7-1 as she wrapped up the match with a win over Michaela Bezdicova at No. 2, 7-6, 6-3.

The Utes take on their first Pac-12 opponents next weekend, seeing Oregon on March 7 and Washington State on March 8.
