Hackett Named to Pac-12 All-Century Football Team

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Utah senior punter Tom Hackett, the 2014 Ray Guy Award winner and a 2015 finalist for the award, has been named to the Pac-12 All-Century Football Team, announced Tuesday evening on the Pac-12 Networks.
Hackett is the youngest member named to the team and the only current Pac-12 player.
A voting panel of 119 former players, coaches and media selected 50 players and one coach to the team based on their accomplishments during their collegiate careers. In addition, the panel could only take into consideration individuals whose collegiate careers at a school occurred while the institution was a member of the conference. The Utes joined the Pac-12 in 2011.
"I'm very honored and privileged to be named [to] this team," Hackett said. "This will be something I will look back on for the rest of my existence. I'm not entirely sure to whom I owe for this honor, to be included with such legends in the game. Thank you Pac-12!"
Hackett, a 2014 consensus All-American and three-time first-team All-Pac-12 punter from Australia, is the only Ray Guy Award winner in Pac-12 history. He had never played a down of American football before walking on to the Utah team in 2013 and has started every game the past three seasons after sharing the starting job as a freshman.
Utah leads the nation in net punting (43.67) behind Hackett, whose 47.8 punt average (55 punts, 2,628 yards) leads the Pac-12 and ranks third in the nation. His 20 punts of 50+ yards also leads the Pac-12.
Hackett has placed 24 punts inside the 20-yard line (43.6-percent of his punts) with 11 inside the 10-yard line and two inside the 5-yard line. Hackett has two of the six longest punts in the country this season (76 yards vs. Oregon and 74 yards vs. Michigan).
Hackett holds the school record for punts of 50 yards or longer (65) and has four punts of 70+ yards. He has placed 43.2-percent (102-of-236) of his career punts inside the 20-yard line, including 48 inside the 10-yard line and 18 inside the 5-yard line. Hackett's 10,636 career punt yards is the most in school history and his 236 career punts ranks second. He is also 3-for-3 in his career on fake punt plays for first downs.
