ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Behind seven skiers in the top 10 in the men's and women's giant slalom, the Utah ski team won the Alaska Seawolf Invitational.
In the women's giant slalom, Kristiina Rove finished fourth for her fifth top-five finish of the season. Chloe Fausa was fifth for her fourth top-five of the year. Teagen Palmer scored a career-best finish with seventh place while Ana Kobal placed ninth for her fifth top-10 of the season. Nora Eide also finished 35th.
For the men, Andy Trow picked up his second top-five finish of the year, crossing the line fifth. Joergen Brath was sixth for his fourth top 10 of the year while Endre Bjertness had his fifth top-10 finish with a ninth-place run. Tim Hribar finished 17th while Dominic Demschar did not finish his second run.
"Congrats to the whole team for an excellent team effort today," Utah head coach Jaka Korencan said. "We are really proud of this group of kids. They have been working hard throughout the year and things are moving in the right direction as we are heading into the championship season. We are looking forward to the Regional Championships."
The Utes totaled 629.5 points for the win, with Colorado (567.5) finishing second followed by Denver in third (546). New Mexico (533) and Alaska-Anchorage (465) finished fourth and fifth. Utah scored the most Nordic points during the event, while the women's skiers also had had the most points among the female teams.
"I am very impressed with our efforts and results this week," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "The team demonstrated excellent individual performances while focusing on the overall team score. I am proud of our execution. We are just starting to see the momentum this squad possesses. This was some great team skiing this week which is a whole lot fun!"
The Utah ski teams continue in Alaska for the RMISA Championship/NCAA West Regional on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28.
