SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 20-ranked Utah women's cross country team is slated to compete at the NCAA Regional Championships this Friday, Nov. 11. The six-kilometer championship race will be held at the Steve & Dona Reeder Cross Country Course and will begin at 11:00 a.m. MT in Logan, Utah.
"It was a great moment a year ago getting our team to the NCAA Championships and we all certainly want to take that experience in and use it this weekend for sure," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "This year is this year and last year is last year. We have to make sure we do the jobs that we need to do this week and on Friday morning."

COMPETING FOR UTAH
The Utes will have seven runners competing at the regional meet. This week's lineup includes seniors
Giselle Slotboom and
Dana Snell, juniors
Grayson Murphy and
Hannah McInturff, and freshmen
Amanda Gehrich,
Poppy Tank, and
Ashley Licata.
"The biggest thing for us this week is just to go back on focusing on us and not worrying so much about everyone else. Just making sure we do our thing and keep our top five very close and have our six and seven not too far behind," Kepler said. "If we can pack it back up and do what we did a little bit earlier in the year and keep our spread in that 30 to 40 second range, I think we will do just fine."
THE FIELD
Utah will be racing in a field of 20 teams. Of the 20 teams, the Mountain Region holds the nation's No.1-overall ranked team, Colorado. Other notable teams competing on Friday include No. 6 New Mexico, No. 18 BYU, and No. 29 Air Force.
POLL TALK
The Utes are ranked No. 20 nationally in the latest poll by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Utah has been ranked nationally for five consecutive weeks.
Utah also remained ranked third in the Mountain Region by the USTFCCCA. Ahead of the Utes in the regional standings are Colorado and New Mexico, while BYU and Air Force round out the top-five teams in the regional rankings.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah finished in fifth place at the Pac-12 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. The fifth place finish tied last year's finish at the conference meet, which is the highest finish since joining the conference. Murphy led the Utes finishing in 12
th place, which earned her second-team all-Pac-12.
