SALT LAKE CITY – The 26th-ranked Utah women's cross country team heads to Reno, Nev., to compete in the Nevada Chase Race this Friday, Sept. 23. The six-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. and will be held at the Sierra Sage Golf Course.
CHASE RACE FORMAT
The race will be a dual meet between Nevada and Utah. Runners will begin the race in 20-second intervals.
"It is a great format," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We don't get to do it that often but we have done it a little bit in the past. It is a lot of fun for the kids and it is something different. It really keeps them engaged and forces them to just race and look up to the next person."
Results and the recap of the Nevada Chase Race will be posted Friday night on UtahUtes.com.
IN THE POLLS
After winning the Montana State Invitational, the Utes are ranked No. 26 in the latest USTFCCA National Coaches Poll. Utah is also ranked No. 4 in the Mountain Region, moving up one position ahead of Weber State, after finishing ahead of the Wildcats at last week's MSU Invitational.
"The ranking means a lot. It is just the beginning of validation for what we did a year ago and hopefully we are on our way to repeating that and maybe even moving up in the standings. We have a long ways to go and by no means are we satisfied," Kepler said.
