FIRST SERVE
The Utah Utes (4-2) will wrap-up regular-season tournament play this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, at the North Marriott Harbour Challenge in Portland, Ore. The tournament will be hosted by Portland and will be held at the Chiles Center.

The Utes will open the event on Friday against the Texas State Bobcats (3-4) at 3 p.m. (PT). Utah closes play on Saturday, facing the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (1-5) at 1 p.m. (PT) and Portland Pilots (3-3) at 6 p.m. (PT)

ABOUT UTAH
The Utes went 2-1 at the Missouri Tiger Invitational this past weekend, picking up wins over Rice and Missouri on Friday, but falling to Illinois State on Saturday.

Utah swept its way past the Owls in an early match on Friday and then later came all the way back from a 2-0 deficit to down the Tigers in five sets on its home court. The Utes took its match with the Redbirds to five sets, but ISU came away with the victory after taking the fifth frame 15-13.

Carly Trueman recorded a team-high 48 kills on the weekend, which included posting a career-high 20 kills against ISU on Saturday. She led Utah with 3.69 kills-per-set and hit .319 over the three matches.

Adora Anae and freshman
Bailey Choy both collected a pair of double-doubles on the weekend, as Anae tallied 12 kills and 14 digs against Rice and then posted a season-high 25 kills and 18 digs in the win over Missouri. Choy notched a new career-high with 45 digs and tallied 10 digs against the Tigers, while notching 43 assists and 10 digs in the five-set loss to the Redbirds.

Tawnee Luafalemana led the Utes with 12 total blocks on the weekend. She posted three solo blocks and nine block assists. She also managed to collect 29 kills, while notching a team-best .421 hitting percentage.

Freshman
Torre Glasker was second on the team with 31 digs this past weekend. She set a new career-high with 15 digs against ISU.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Texas State - The Bobcats went 2-1 while hosting the Creeds & Crests Classic this past weekend. TXST notched wins over Stephen F. Austin and Kennesaw State before falling to Tulsa in the tournament finale.

Jordan Kohl leads TXST with 77 kills and a 3.35 kills-per-set average on the season. She ranks second on the team with 20 total blocks, trailing only Lauren Kirch's 22 total blocks on the year.

Erin Hoppe leads the Bobcats with 159 assists and Emily Shelton follows with 92 assists through the Bobcats' first seven matches of the season. Mattie Adams has a team-high 55 digs and Kelsey Weynand follows with 49 digs on the season.

TXST is hitting .212 as a team and averages 12.4 kills, 11.6 assists, 12.1 digs and 2.6 blocks per set. TXST's 2.6 blocks ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference and 46th in the nation.

CSU Bakersfield - The Roadrunners dropped all three of its matches in Santa Barbara this past weekend, falling in straight sets to CSUSB, Baylor and Pittsburgh. CSUB's only win on the season is a 3-2 win over Army.

Sydney Hanyes has a team-high 54 kills on the season, but she is followed by Sophie Flemion's 46 kills. Flemion, however, leads the team with 58 digs.

Sidney Wicks has a team-high 96 assists, while Katie Dunbar-Lowe leads the team at the net with 19 total blocks.

The Roadrunners are hitting .110 as a team, while averaging 11.05 kills, 10.32 assists, 14.05 digs and 1.77 blocks per set.

Portland - The Pilots went 1-2 at the Fresno State Tournament over the weekend, falling to DePaul and Portland State before notching a win over the Bulldogs.

Hanna Troutman leads Portland with 69 kills, while she and Reghan Pukis have a team-high 3.00 kills-per-set average. Katie Sullivan has 50 kills on the season and a team-best .355 hitting percentage.

Carli Thompson has registered a team-high 209 assists and Monica Gajda leads her squad with 71 digs. Sullivan leads the team at the net with 21 total blocks.

The Pilots are hitting .242 on the season, while averaging 12.04 kills, 11.35 assists, 12.39 digs and 1.98 blocks per set.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Utes and Bobcats will face each other for just the fourth time as Utah leads the all-time series 2-0. Utah defeated the Bobcats in straight sets in a tournament in Denton, Texas, back in 2013. The two teams met earlier back in 1997 and again in 1977. Utah is 2-0 against Texas State on a neutral court.

Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Utes and Roadrunners.

Saturday also marks just the fourth match between the Utes and Pilots when the teams face each other at the Chiles Center. Utah leads the series 2-1 with its only loss coming back in 1987. Utah won the last match between the two squads with a 3-0 win at the Utah State Tournament in Logan, Utah.

UTAH IN PRESEASON TOURNAMENTS
Utah moved to 27-6 overall in preseason tournaments since 2013 following its 2-1 record at the Tiger Invitational. Along with its 4-2 record this season, the Utes went 5-4 in three invitationals in 2015, and were a perfect 8-0 in 2014 and 10-0 in 2013.

UTES AMONG TOP-25 IN THE NATION IN HITTING PERCENTAGE
Utah heads into the week with a .291 team hitting percentage. That is good enough for third-place in the Pac-12 rankings and No. 20 overall in the nation.

Utah's best hitting proficiency in school history for a season was a .281 hitting percentage that was tallied back in 2006.

UTAH PLAYER NOTABLES
• Junior
Carly Trueman blasted a career-best 20 kills against Illinois State on Saturday. She bested her previous high of 15 kills, which came last season at California.

Adora Anae recorded a season-high 25 kills in Utah's 3-2 come-from-behind win over Missouri on Friday. Anae has tallied 20-kills or more in two matches so far this season and in a total of 14 matches for her career. Anae currently leads all Pac-12 players with 94 kills and ranks third in the league with 4.09 kills per set. She also ranks sixth in the conference with 3.78 digs per set.

Bailey Choy registered a career-high 45 assists in the win over Missouri on Friday. She notched 43 assists against Illinois State and tallied 10 digs in both matches for her third double-double of the season. Choy ranks ninth in the league with a 7.68 assists per set average.

Berkeley Oblad ranks seventh in the Pac-12 and 29th in the nation with a .416 hitting percentage.
• Sophomore
Jessie Openshaw ranks second on the team with six service aces, but she is fourth in the Pac-12 with a 0.43 aces per set average.
Anae has tallied a team-best eight aces and ranks seventh in the league with 0.35 aces per set.
